The Moroccan national high school team will be competing in the International School Gymnasiades athletic competition in Manama, Bahrain, held by the International School Sport Federation (ISF) from October 23 to 31.
Morocco’s national squad consists of 89 competitors, including 71 young athletes, who intend to boost Morocco’s worldwide presence and compete against countries including Brazil, the United States, and India.
Morocco’s Ministry of National Education and Sports stated that participating in the tournament is part of the kingdom’s 2022-2026 roadmap, which highlights the importance of school sports in fostering citizenship and openness among students. The roadmap encourages students to excel through international sporting events.
The Moroccan delegation, consisting of 35 female and 36 male athletes, includes champions from national school tournaments in various sports.
Eight female athletes and ten male athletes will participate in track and field events, while 12 girls and 11 boys will compete in Taekwondo.
Additionally, three female and three male athletes will represent Morocco in Judo competitions, while six girls and six boys will compete in Karate.
Morocco’s participation will also extend to archery and badminton, with two athletes each competing in both categories, one boy and one girl. The kingdom will also be represented by six boys and six girls in the Orienteering competition.
This is an opportunity to showcase the talent of Moroccan students while competing against strong delegations from countries such as Azerbaijan, Mexico, and India, according to the ministry.
The Moroccan delegation left Mohammed V International Airport for Manama on Monday. The athletes are scheduled to return at the end of October.
