Morocco’s national beach soccer team, the Atlas Lions, defeated Ghana 5-2 on Monday in Hurghada, Egypt, during the second matchday of Group A of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The team’s latest victory comes after its previous win against Tanzania on Saturday, where Morocco won 4-3.
Reda Zahraoui opened the scoring for Morocco in the 7th and 18th minutes, and Idriss Ghanam added a goal in the 13th.
K. Ticore then scored a goal for Ghana in the 20th minute, but Amine El Bidouri brought the game home for Morocco, scoring the winning goal in the 34th minute.
The Atlas Lions have achieved two victories and gained six points in their group matches so far. They will play the Pharaohs of Egypt in their final group-stage match on Tuesday.
The AFCON serves as a qualifier for the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup that will be hosted by the Seychelles next year.
