Morocco’s Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, the President of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), Amina Bouayach, and the Executive Director of the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR), Louise Holck, signed a memorandum of understanding in Rabat on Friday to strengthen institutional cooperation in human rights protection between the two kingdoms.
The agreement is designed to improve professional and human resource capabilities within Morocco’s justice sector. It is intended to incorporate human rights-based approaches into the implementation of public policy and applicable legislation, in accordance with Morocco’s Constitution and international conventions.
Ouahbi stated that the parties to the agreement are committed to expanding the collaboration beyond Morocco to Africa, with the support of the Danish-Arab Partnership Program (DAPP), the Idris Benzekri Institute of the CNDH, and the Ministry’s training institutes for clerks and legal professionals.
Bouayach reiterated the importance of evaluating and monitoring the training programs outlined in the memorandum to ensure they meet the training needs of the professionals involved.
The memorandum will enable significant progress in protecting and promoting human rights among justice professionals and the public, reinforcing Morocco’s commitment to aligning its legal and judicial systems with international standards.
