Moroccan international football player Eliesse Ben Sghir has been named among the 25 finalists for the 2024 Golden Boy award which honors the best young player under 21 in Europe.
Italian sports newspaper “Tuttosport” published the list of the finalists on Thursday which includes the young midfielder who plays for AS Monaco (Ligue 1, France).
At just 19 years old, the Atlas Lion has continued to impress with his performances this season, contributing two goals and two assists in Ligue 1, making him one of the standout players in the French league.
He also had an outstanding performance with Morocco’s national team, particularly in two matches against the Central African Republic, which Morocco won 5-0 and 4-0 on October 12 and 15 at the Stade d’Honneur in Oujda, scoring a brace in the second match.
Established in 2003 by “Tuttosport,” the Golden Boy Award ceremony will take place at the end of November. A jury of journalists specializing in sports will select the best young player in Europe.
