The African Football Confederation (CAF) selected Morocco’s Marrakech to host its 2024 Awards on 16 December, marking the third time the country is hosting the event, CAF said in a press release.
The awards will bring together the continent’s top football stars, including Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, a strong contender for the Men’s Player of the Year award.
Morocco’s designation as the host country reflects its emerging role as a major destination for international football events. The Kingdom has become a go-to avenue for high-profile CAF events, including the CAF Women’s Champions League, held earlier this year.
The kingdom is also gearing up to co-host the FIFA World Cup 2030, in a joint bid with Spain and Portugal.
