Morocco will host the 2024 Women’s Africa Champions League from November 9 -23, 2024, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Tuesday.
Eight clubs will compete for the title and a prize pool of USD 400,000, with the runners-up receiving USD 250,000. Six zonal tournaments were held to qualify six teams, in addition to the host nation and the reigning champion of the 2023 edition.
The participating teams include AS FAR (Host – winner in 2022), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa – defending champion), Aigles de la Medina (Senegal – UFOA A), Edo Queens (Nigeria – UFOA B), TP Mazembe (DR Congo – UNIFFAC), Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (Ethiopia – CECAFA), University of the Western Cape (South Africa – COSAFA), and Tutankhamun (Egypt – UNAF).
Morocco’s hosting of this competition follows the successful organization of the CAF TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2022, which was hailed as a tremendous success.
Morocco also hosted the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League, the premium women’s club football competition in Africa. Since its inception, the CAF Women’s Champions League has played a vital role in advancing women’s football across the continent.
