The Casablanca Stock Exchange announced the immediate appointment of Brahim Benjelloun Touimi as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors following a meeting on Tuesday.
Touimi’s two-year term of office will succeed that of Kamal Mokdad, who has served since June 2020.
Touimi’s extensive experience in the financial sector was a key factor in his selection. He holds a PhD in Finance and Banking from the University of Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne, one of the world’s leading universities in these fields. He currently serves as Deputy CEO at the Bank of Africa.
During Mokdad’s leadership, the Casablanca Stock Exchange achieved significant growth and modernization. The Board commended Mokdad’s efforts in executing the Exchange’s strategy and thanked him for his contributions. He will serve now as a representative of Banque Centrale Populaire.
The new chairman, has an extensive background in the financial sector, with leadership roles at the Bank of Africa and as a director in multiple European banking entities within the Group.
He also serves as Chairman or Director of multiple companies in Morocco, with operations in investment banking and specialized financial services. In addition, he sits on the boards of RMA Insurance and its holding company, O Capital Group.
His extensive expertise is not limited to banking. Touimi is also a director of the BMCE Bank Foundation, focusing on education and environmental preservation, and the Othman Benjelloun Foundation. He also serves on the Board of Proparco, a French development finance institution.
