The Speaker of Morocco’s Lower House, Rachid Talbi Alami, met on Monday, in Rabat, with Rodrigo Pacheco, President of Brazil’s Federal Senate, who is on a working visit to Morocco, to review methods of strengthening parliamentary ties.
The meeting centered on enhancing the collaboration between the legislative bodies of both countries, according to a statement from the Moroccan Lower House,
The two leaders voiced commitment to reinvigorating the Moroccan-Brazilian parliamentary friendship groups and fostering stronger coordination at both the bilateral and multilateral levels.
Pacheco said he admires Morocco’s recent advancements, noting the significant progress made across a range of sectors.
His visit, he said, underscores “a shared goal of deepening parliamentary cooperation and building stronger diplomatic ties through legislative channels.”
He also noted the shared environmental challenges both nations face, particularly regarding climate change, and extended an invitation to Alami to attend the upcoming COP 30 climate summit, which Brazil will host in 2025.
The Brazilian Senate President also highlighted the economic prospects between the two nations, noting that “Morocco is a key economic partner for Brazil,” and identified potential for increased collaboration in trade, agriculture, and tourism.
Alami commended the strength of Moroccan-Brazilian relations, acknowledging Brazil’s support of Morocco’s territorial integrity.
He also discussed Morocco’s extensive development projects under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, including infrastructure improvements, the growing prominence of the Tangier-Med port, and the planned Atlantic port at Dakhla, which will become a gateway to the African continent. He also highlighted Morocco’s progress in agriculture, renewable energy, and social programs.
Brazil’s Ambassador to Morocco, Alexandre Guido Lopes Parola, also attended the meeting.
