During the first session of its ordinary meeting in October, the Municipal Council of Agadir approved a MAD 700 million rehabilitation and development program, encompassing 22 neighborhoods in the city from 2025 to 2028, Barlamane.com reported.
Multiple entities contributed to the budget. The Municipal Council of Agadir contributed MAD 400 million; the Ministry of Territorial Planning, Urbanism, Housing, and Urban Policy contributed MAD 150 million; and the Souss-Massa Regional Council contributed MAD 150 million.
The project will focus on the modernization of road networks, electricity, and public lighting as well as the creation of new green spaces, the development of parks, and local recreational areas.
The city’s preexisting public square will also be transformed by the redevelopment project, to enhance its aesthetic value and improve the city’s urban landscape.
The rehabilitation program is part of the Municipal Council of Agadir’s efforts to improve the city’s urban infrastructure to enhance the living conditions of its residents.
