A study day held in Paris on Saturday spotlighted Morocco’s impressive development under King Mohammed VI’s leadership.
Hosted at the Maison du Maroc, the event brought together diplomats, academics, and business leaders to review Morocco’s progress across a range of sectors, from social reform to renewable energy.
In her opening remarks, Nada Bakkali Hassani, Morocco’s Consul General in Paris, commended the “bold and visionary reforms” initiated by King Mohammed VI since his ascension to the throne in 1999.
The reforms, she explained, have profoundly transformed Morocco, elevating it to the status of a key player in North Africa and beyond. “The bold and visionary reforms led by His Majesty the King have transformed Morocco in a lasting way, elevating it to the rank of a regional power,” Hassani said.
Among the critical areas of progress discussed were Morocco’s social protection reform, its innovative water management strategies, and its strengthening ties with African nations.
Hassani also noted the importance of the Moroccan Sahara issue, describing it as a “strong marker” of the King’s reign. She commended King Mohammed VI for prioritizing the defense of Morocco’s territorial integrity, pointing out the broad international support Morocco has garnered, including from global powers like the U.S. and France.
Yassine El Yattioui, secretary-general of the think tank NejMaroc, shed light on the ripple effect of Morocco’s economic growth, especially for its young population.
He noted the country’s growing influence in renewable energy and digital transformation, while also mentioning Morocco’s stability as a foundation for its continued success.
“Morocco’s growth is benefiting its youth and positioning the country as a leader in renewable energy and the digital economy,” El Yattioui remarked.
The event also featured discussions on a variety of topics, including Franco-Moroccan cooperation, sustainable real estate development, and Morocco’s growing role in African diplomacy and entrepreneurship.
