Morocco’s King Mohammed VI said on Friday that the Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline project is as a key initiative that underscores the growing international support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
During his speech to Parliament at the opening of the first session of the 4th Legislative Year of 11th legislature, the monarch stated, “this momentum is reflected in the recognition by influential nations like the United States and France, both permanent members of the UN Security Council, who reaffirm Morocco’s territorial integrity and bolster support for the Autonomy Initiative as the path to a final resolution of the Sahara issue.”
Spain and the majority of European Union member states have also expressed their support for Morocco’s territorial integrity. The king said he appreciated the support of the kingdom’s partners for the county’s foremost cause and that of those investing in the southern provinces, deemed essential to the national territory.
These collaborative efforts are contributing to the socio-economic and cultural development of the Sahara, positioning the southern provinces as a vital hub for interaction and exchange all across Africa.
