A Moroccan-American medical-surgical caravan started to carry out approximately 100 surgical operations across various specialties from October 6-12 in Dakhla.
The initiative was launched at the Hassan II Regional Hospital in Dakhla, seeking to provide specialized medical and surgical services, particularly for patients in need of surgical interventions.
Murtada Jabbar, the regional director of Health and Social Protection, told Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) that the caravan is part of a partnership with the American Paul Chester Foundation. He added that “the initiative focuses on conducting multidisciplinary surgical operations, including general surgery, Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgery, and gynecology.”
The solidarity caravan is seeking to perform around 100 surgical procedures in collaboration with the “Pioneer Youth Organization” and with the support of the regional administration.
Bill Chester, founder of the “Paul Chester” Foundation, said that “he is proud in participating in this caravan along with several surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and medical technicians, providing care services and performing surgeries, particularly for children.”
Imad Ben Taleb, vice president of the “Pioneer Youth Organization,” also noted that “thanks to the efforts of various stakeholders, the Moroccan-American caravan has been welcomed in good conditions to carry out a series of surgical operations over six days, in addition to medical consultations.”
The Moroccan-American medical team consists of 17 members from the “Paul Chester” Foundation and a Moroccan medical staff from Hassan II Hospital in Dakhla, including specialized doctors, nurses, and medical technicians.
The caravan is part of the exchange of experience between Morocco and the United States, endeavoring to strengthen medical cooperation and fostering further partnerships.
