The Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM), the body that supports film festivals and cinematographic events in Morocco, has announced the eight feature film projects that out of 30 submissions have been selected to participate in the fourth Pitch Competition that will occur during Morocco’s 24th National Film Festival on October 19-21.
The Pitch Competition is one of the key events at the festival. It offers Moroccan filmmakers the opportunity to present their works to industry professionals and to attract funding.
The CCM’s list of selected projects for this year’s competition includes “Classe (Très) Moyenne” by Reda Lahmouid, “Gouttes de Pluie” by El Houssain Chani, “La Piste” by Mohcine Nadifi, and “Les Âmes suspendues” by Ayoub Lahnoud.
The list also features the project “Simeon Idriss” by Zineb Wakrim, “Hayat (i)” by Malika Zairi, “Sur les traces d’Estevanico le Maure” by Mohammed Hicham Regragui, and “La Guerre de mon père” by Younes Jaddad.
The shortlisted entries will be assessed by a panel of national and international film industry experts.
The winning filmmakers will receive awards, including the Grand Prize of 50,000 MAD, the Jury Prize of 40,000 MAD, and the Best Screenplay Prize of 30,000 MAD.
The competition is intended to foster the growth of emerging talent by providing visibility and financial support for promising film projects. It reflects the country’s commitment to fostering the growth of Moroccan cinema.
The agenda for the event, including the schedule of professional meetings and the list of speakers, will be shared in the upcoming days, CCM stated.
