Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, reaffirmed, on Tuesday, the Kingdom’s commitment to a two-state solution to achieve a just and comprehensive peace and ensure long-term stability in the Middle East, during a press briefing with Fernando Clavijo, President of the Canary Islands regional government, in Rabat.
The solution should be based on the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law.
Bourita called for constructive actors to address the situation and initiate solutions to prevent extremists from holding the region hostage by “extremists of both parties,” reiterating that Morocco vehemently condemns attacks on civilians.
The minister warned against expanding the conflict to Lebanon, citing potential destabilizing consequences for the entire region. “It is time for action, and for United Nations bodies to fully assume their responsibilities to stop the attacks against the Palestinian people,” he asserted.
He also reiterated Morocco’s condemnation of Israeli attacks on “schools, hospitals, and the thousands of women and children targeted by Israeli assaults,” as well as the obstruction of humanitarian aid and the policy of “starving” the Palestinian population in its territories.
