The Hassan II University in Casablanca (UH2C) signed seven partnership agreements with global technology leaders including Oracle and Huawei on Monday to enhance student training in digital skills and technology, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
The partnerships are designed to better align students’ skills with the needs of the job market, focusing on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, robotics, and coding.
Morocco’s Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform signed the partnerships with representatives from technology leaders Oracle, Huawei, Cisco, DXC, Leyton, Fortinet, and Nearsecure.
The initiative is part of Morocco’s National Plan for Accelerating the Transformation of the Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation System (Pacte ESRI 2030), a strategic plan launched by the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation in 2022. Its primary goal is to modernize and improve the quality of Morocco’s higher education system.
The president of UH2C, Houssine Azeddoug, said that the initiative “marks a new step towards strengthening and consolidating ties between the university and its strategic partners in the private sector.”
“The student’s training will be tailored to the needs of the job market,” he told MAP.
The UH2C has also announced the opening of three CODE 212 specialized training hubs at the Faculty of Science and Technology in Mohammedia, the National School of Arts and Crafts in Casablanca, and the National School of Electricity and Mechanics in Casablanca.
The CODE 212 centers will use the latest technology to provide students with practical skills in technological fields such as coding, programming, big data, robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI).
