Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, met on Monday in Rabat with a South African delegation led by Obed Bapela, Vice President of the International Relations Committee of the African National Congress (ANC), to review their countries bilateral relations.
Following discussions, Bapela called for stronger economic and trade cooperation between South Africa and Morocco.
The South African politician urged Moroccan businesses to consider investing in South Africa, referencing the presence of multiple South African companies across the Moroccan market.
“We can work together to overcome the challenges facing Africa,” he stated, welcoming Morocco’s reintegration into the African Union.
He also referenced Morocco’s support for South Africa’s fight for independence.
He added that the Kingdom was among the first countries visited by South African leader Nelson Mandela, in 1994, after independence to acknowledge the Moroccan people’s role in South Africa’s liberation, and explore ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.
