The coastal city of Dakhla, located in the southern provinces of the kingdom, will host the inaugural Surf Casting No Kill fishing competition from October 19 to November 2, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
The event seeks to deliver a unique, eco-conscious experience for both Moroccan and international fishing enthusiasts, according to MAP.
Adopting the “No Kill” principle, participants are committed to releasing all captured fish back into the sea, ensuring the protection of the region’s marine ecosystem.
The competition features two stages, with the national phase serving as a qualifying round from October 19 to 21 to determine which Moroccan anglers advance to the international round.
The international phase will take place on November 2, featuring qualified Moroccan professionals competing against anglers from around the world.
A beach clean-up will also be organized in parallel with the fishing competition to raise awareness of environmental issues.
The social aspect of the event also includes a medical caravan, offering free medical consultations and services to the local population on October 25- 26.
The Oued Eddahab Provincial Tourism Council, Morocco’s phosphate giant OCP, the Moroccan Society for Tourism Engineering (SMIT) and Barid Al-Maghrib co-sponsored the event, enhancing Dakhla’s standing as a hub for eco-friendly sports tourism.
