Ouaffa Benanni, Head of Morocco’s National Music Committee, and Ali Obaid, Director General of the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy in the United Arab Emirates signed a partnership agreement on Friday in Rabat to enhance cultural and artistic cooperation, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
The agreement seeks to develop programs designed to enhance artistic creativity and cultural innovation, particularly through talent incubation in different artistic areas. It also seeks to elevate the status of the “Ziryab Virtuoso Prize” internationally.
The prize recognizes outstanding musicians, particularly those excelling in the lute and classical music. The award presentation alternates between Morocco and Fujairah in the UAE.
Bennani stated that the agreement reflects “the strong ties between Morocco and the UAE” and aligns with the Royal Directives for the protection of intangible cultural heritage.
Al Hefaiti highlighted that the accord represents a “significant cultural milestone” and will pave the way for joint cultural initiatives that support and motivate creators across a range of disciplines.
Several researchers, artists, and members of the Fujairah Academy delegation attended the signing ceremony.
