Austria reiterated its commitment to the “excellent bilateral ties” with Morocco on Sunday, after the recent ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) which invalidated the EU-Morocco agriculture and fisheries agreement.
The ruling concerns the labeling of products from Morocco’s southern provinces. It follows a 2021 CJEU decision favouring the Polisario Front, which claims that the EU-Morocco deal was concluded without the consent of the Sahrawi people.
The Austrian Foreign Ministry also endorsed the joint statement released by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Vice President Josep Borrell, according to the Ministry’s official X account.
Morocco’s European Union partners, including France, Spain, Belgium, Italy, and Finland, have reiterated their unwavering commitment to maintaining strong ties with the Kingdom.
