Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, affirmed Morocco’s commitment to the International Organization of Francophonie’s (OIF) values of cultural diversity and multilingualism at a panel discussion in Paris on Saturday, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
Akhannouch spoke at the 19th Francophonie Summit, highlighting Morocco’s efforts to promote these values through education and youth employability programs.
The head of government referenced Morocco’s longstanding membership in the OIF since 1981 and noted the kingdom’s approach to “education reform and language learning as tools for enhancing youth employability both locally and internationally.”
He also discussed the importance of digital accessibility, referring to the recently launched “Morocco Digital 2030” strategy, which seeks to train 100,000 young people annually in digital areas by 2026, generating 240,000 jobs in the digital economy.
He also held bilateral meetings with several counterparts including Mauritania’s President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani and Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.
The International City of the French Language in Villers-Cotterêts housed this year’s Francophonie Summit under the theme “Create, Innovate, and Build.” It is a major international event for French-speaking countries, bringing together heads of state and governments to discuss various diplomatic, cultural, and political issues.
The summit also addresses critical global concerns, such as conflicts and innovation, and explores how the values of the Francophonie, including cultural diversity and multilingualism, could contribute to solving current crises.
