Elected Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Fra’ John Timothy Dunlap, commended Morocco’s presidency of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) during a ceremony held on Thursday at the Palace of Nations in the Swiss city of Geneva.
In a speech before the HR Council, Dunlap acknowledged Morocco’s leadership and the themes it introduced at the outset of its term, particularly, the impact of artificial intelligence on human rights, as well as food, health, and environmental security, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
During his visit to Geneva, Dunlap also held a meeting with Omar Zniber, Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the UN, who also serves as President of the UNHRC.
They discussed the ties between Morocco and the Sovereign Order of Malta, with Dunlap acknowledging King Mohammed VI’s contributions to international cooperation.
The Grand Master bestowed Ambassador Zniber with an honorary medal, symbolizing the Order’s history and mission.
