Morocco’s Health Minister, Khalid Ait Taleb, inaugurated on Friday, a Cardiology Institute and a psychiatry department at Hassan II University Hospital in Fes, located in northern Morocco, the Ministry announced in a press release.
He spearheaded the expansion of the radiology unit and the construction of an emergency department within the same hospital.
The Minister also inaugurated health care centers in several provinces, including Sefrou, Boulemane, Fes, Meknes, El Hajeb, Taza, and Moulay Yaacoub.
The opening of the cardiology and psychiatry services, along with the expansion of radiology and the emergency hospital, will enhance healthcare services, particularly at the Hassan II University Hospital.
“These initiatives will significantly enhance the management of cardiovascular diseases and provide appropriate mental health and emergency care, addressing the growing healthcare demands while alleviating pressure on essential hospital services,” the Ministry said.
Ait Taleb also launched operations at 30 healthcare facilities in the Fes-Meknes region.
A rural health center in Sidi Hrazem and a maternity unit at the rural health center of Oulad Tayeb both in Fes province, have commenced operations.
In Sefrou, operations commenced at nine urban and rural health centers, including those in Senhaja, Azzaba, Ain Chifa, and Mternagha, as well as the urban centers of Sidi Ahmed Tadeli and Chahid Baha.
In Taza, the Minister launched services at ten health centers, including the rural center of Ouled Cherif and several other rural dispensaries.
In Meknes, Ait Taleb inaugurated six new urban health centers, and additional rural health ones were launched in Moulay Yaacoub and El Hajeb.
The Ministry has equipped the centers with high-quality medical equipment and has mobilized qualified healthcare personnel to provide essential medical services to an estimated population of 308,000 people.
The services include general medical consultations, nursing care, chronic disease diagnosis and control — including diabetes and hypertension — maternity and pediatric care, school health, health education, and mobile health initiatives.
The facilities seek to meet the growing demand for quality care, enhance accessibility, and optimize patient reception and orientation.
