Morocco’s government council reviewed an agreement on the mutual recognition of driving licenses for conversion purposes during its meeting on Thursday. The agreement, signed on March 27, 2024, in Rome, involves both the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Italy and is accompanied by Bill 38.24, which seeks to ratify the agreement.
The agreement seeks to enhance road traffic between Morocco and Italy by recognizing valid and non-provisional national driving licenses issued by either party, in accordance with each country’s legislation
“The licenses must contain all necessary information to identify the driver, provided that the license holder meets the legal age requirements established by each party for the relevant category of the license,” Mustapha Baitas, the Minister Delegate in Charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, said during a press conference following the council meeting.
“The licenses must contain all necessary information to identify the driver, provided that the license holder meets the legal age requirements established by each party for the relevant category of the license.”
The agreement also stipulates that citizens relocating for residency must exchange their national driving license for an equivalent license issued by the other state, without the need for a theoretical or practical exam, except in specific cases involving drivers with special needs, who will be required to undergo a practical exam.
