Morocco has established itself as a “key player” in the International Francophonie Organization (OIF) since it first joined in 1981, Oria Vandeweghe, spokesperson for the OIF Secretary-General, told Morocco’s News Agency (MAP).
Ahead of the 19th Francophonie Summit, Vadneweghe acknowledged Morocco’s contributions to “the institutional life of Francophonie, noting its active role in the work of its bodies.”
Vandeweghe highlighted the kingdom’s commitment to promoting the OIF’s fundamental values, including “cultural diversity, multilingualism, and international cooperation.”
“Morocco plays an essential role in promoting the French language and Francophone culture in Africa,” she added.
This year’s Summit of the Francophonie, scheduled to begin on Friday at the International City of the French Language in Villers-Cotterêts and conclude at the Grand Palais in Paris, will feature youth participation under the theme “Create, Innovate and Build”.
Morocco showcased its artistic innovation at the Village de la Francophonie on Tuesday, with a live calligraphy demonstration entitled “Youth and Innovation”, highlighting the country’s rich artistic tradition and attracting many visitors.
