Le Mall du Carrousel, a massive new shopping center overlooking Rabat’s coastline, opened its doors on Thursday to the delight of shoppers.
The MAD 600 million project has transformed the waterfront of Morocco’s capital into a one-stop destination for shopping, entertainment, and wellness, while simultaneously creating hundreds of jobs.
Its open-air shopping center covers 33,000 square meters, with retail space containing over 100 shops, green spaces, a multiplex cinema, and a large food court.
Fadel Al Ali, Chairman of the Board of Imkan Waterfront, the company responsible for developing the Carrousel project, said the project “marks a new phase in the development of Rabat’s waterfront,” MAP reported.
“By blending bold architecture with a refined lifestyle, we are creating an environment that enriches the city of Rabat and redefines standards of elegance,” he added.
Construction of the shopping center started in 2019 as part of the Carrousel project, a large mixed-use destination in Rabat, spanning over 100,000 square meters, that combines residential, retail, hospitality, and entertainment spaces, including a business hotel, private homes, a waterfront promenade, and the new mall.
Managing Director of Imkan Morocco, Ahmad Aref, described the shopping center’s opening as “a key milestone in the realization of the Carrousel project.”
“We are confident that this destination will become a must-visit in Rabat, thanks to its unique offering of stores, its breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, and its exceptional setting,” he added.
Le Mall du Carrousel houses both national and international retail franchises, such as Alpha 55, Springfield, and Planet Sport. Its scenic location overlooking the Atlantic makes it a vibrant destination for both locals and visitors.
