Moroccan Members of Parliament participated on Monday in a major meeting in Strasbourg, France, as part of their ongoing collaboration with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
The meeting addressed several important issues including the rising violence and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, illegal immigration, and refugees.
Morocco has had a special partnership with PACE since 2011, and the Kingdom intends to further strengthen it.
“The Moroccan parliament is determined to further consolidate its collaboration with this pan-European parliamentary assembly, which brings together 612 members, 30 observers, and 30 partners around the democratic ideal,” Morocco’s Lower House announced in a press release.
The Moroccan delegation’s participation has intensified recently, with new responsibilities driving more active participation by its members in discussions, suggesting recommendations, proposing changes to resolutions, and leading special investigative missions.
Moroccan representatives are actively involved in a number of the Council’s committees, including the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights, the Committee on Migration, Refugees, and Displaced Persons, the Committee on Social Affairs, Health, and Sustainable Development, the Committee on Culture, Science, Education, and Media, and the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination.
