Germany’s Ambassador to Morocco, Robert Dölger, expressed appreciation for the growing cooperation between the two countries on Tuesday in Fez.
“Morocco and Germany have succeeded in strengthening and deepening their relations in an extraordinary fashion,” the German diplomat said at an international symposium entitled “Oral and Regional Heritage in Scientific Research and University and School Education” at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Fez.
He noted that Germany is a top destination for Moroccan students. 6,200 Moroccans studied in Germany in 2022, most of whom were majoring in engineering, law, or science, according to MAP.
In 2023, more than 600 Moroccan academics received support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
To further boost Morocco-German collaboration, Morocco’s Ministry of Higher Education is focusing on improving digital and language skills, with the DAAD and Goethe Institute helping expand opportunities for learning German in universities.
Dölger also mentioned that there are already over 70 joint ventures between the two countries and that new ones could be developed. A DAAD delegation will visit Moroccan universities in November to explore ways to further enhance cooperation.
