Indian company Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) will establish its factory in Casablanca to produce armored vehicles for the Moroccan army starting in 2025.
According to sources within the Indian conglomerate, the company endeavors to “substantially serve the African market in the long term.”
The new facility will produce the Wheeled Armored Platform (WhAP), an amphibious eight-wheeled armored vehicle capable of navigating all types of terrain.
“The factory will manufacture 100 units per year and will be operational in 2025, with the first WhAPs expected to be delivered within eighteen months,” the sources added.
TASL ‘s CEO Sukaran Singh said that this strategic facility “will not only enable TASL to contribute to the development of Morocco’s defense ecosystem but will also serve as a launchpad for TASL into the rest of Africa for other defense systems.”
Morocco’s National Defense Administration and TASL have partnered to locally produce WhAP 8×8 combat vehicles to modernize the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
The WhAP 8×8 combat vehicle, known for its superior maneuverability and firepower, is a centerpiece in modern land warfare, and its production in Morocco represents a significant leap forward for the nation’s military capabilities.
