Morocco will take on Brazil in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Futsal World Cup at the Bukhara Universal Sports Complex in Uzbekistan.
Sixth on the FIFA Futsal Men’s World Ranking, Morocco’s Atlas Lions secured a hard-fought 4-3 win over world number four Iran on Thursday.
The team has shown remarkable resilience throughout the competition, and the upcoming match against the top-ranked Brazilians could be their biggest challenge so far.
In their journey to the quarterfinals, Brazil’s national team has shown its dominance by posting impressive scores such as a 10-0 win over Cuba and an 8-1 win over Croatia.
Morocco previously faced Brazil five times, achieving one victory, one draw, and three defeats. In their most recent encounter in the last World Cup quarter-finals, Morocco lost 1-0. However, the Atlas Lions are determined to reverse this outcome in Sunday’s match.
“We will play to win and go to the semi-finals. Although Brazil’s players had more time off than us, we are ready to face them,” Captain Soufiane El Mesrar said confidently.
Morocco advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition with a combination of determination and skill. The team defeated Tajikistan 4-2, displaying both attacking prowess and defensive resilience.
Morocco’s Soufian Charraoui received a yellow card, which is a cause for concern; a second yellow card would eliminate him from the semifinals if the team qualifies.
The match will kick off at 1:30 pm.
