The newly appointed President of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN), Ramón Emilio Gori, called for deeper cooperation with the Moroccan Parliament during a meeting with Hayat Laaraych and Abdelali El Barouki, two deputies representing Morocco’s Lower House.
Gori highlighted the strong, long-standing ties between the two parliamentary institutions, according to a statement by Morocco’s Lower House.
He commended Morocco’s significant advancements in various sectors over recent years, noting the country’s leadership continentally and internationally.
The President also noted that Central American countries are interested in leveraging Morocco’s expertise in renewable and clean energy sectors, as well as its experience in migration management.
Hayat Laaraych, representing Morocco’s delegation to PARLACEN, highlighted the Kingdom’s strategic position within the Central American Parliament, noting its alignment with the broader goal of enhancing South-South collaboration.
Laaraych commended the productive relations between Morocco and most Central American nations, particularly the robust ties with the Dominican Republic.
She acknowledged the Dominican Republic’s support for Morocco’s national interests and its plans to open a consulate in the city of Dakhla as part of its future expansion strategy.
The session featured a notable moment with the swearing-in of Abdelali El Barouki before the Central American Parliament. He was appointed as an observer member representing the national section of PARLACEN.
PARLACEN is the regional organ for the democratic and political representation of the people of Central America and the Dominican Republic.
