Tourist arrivals to Morocco reached 11.8 million by the end of August 2024, marking a 16% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF) under the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The DEPF’s latest economic report highlights that Morocco recorded “1.6 million additional arrivals during the first eight months of 2024,” quoted Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP).
As for overnight stays in classified accommodation, the number increased by 8% as of July 2024, reaching 15.4 million overnight stays.
This growth stems from a 6% increase in the first month of the third quarter, a 13% rise in the second quarter, and a 2.9% increase in the first quarter.
By segment, the rise in overnight stays was primarily driven by a 13% increase in non-resident stays.
Tourism revenues also improved, rising by 9.5% in the first month of the third quarter of 2024, following a 9.4% increase in the second quarter, despite a 4.2% decline in the first quarter.
By the end of July 2024, revenues amounted to MAD 59.4 billion, reflecting a 3.5% increase compared to July 2023.
