Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration Aawatif Hayar, participated in a workshop in Rabat on Friday to launch a new program to improve social protection services for student housing.
The program, organized in partnership with Morocco’s phosphate group OCP, focuses on enhancing governance and boosting the capacities of associations managing social protection establishments.
Minister Hayar emphasized the program’s goal of supporting associations running “Dar Talib” student housing to improve governance mechanisms and social services while ensuring long-term sustainability. A pilot phase will involve 12 student homes before expanding to additional institutions across Morocco.
This initiative aligns with the Royal directives aimed at strengthening the foundations of a social state and implementing the new development model, with a focus on investing in human capital, particularly in youth.
It also fits within the government’s strategy and the ministry’s “GISR” approach which promotes an inclusive, innovative, and sustainable social environment.
The program aims to enhance governance within social protection establishments, fostering independence, while improving the quality of services for vulnerable groups.
Efforts have been made to improve communication with stakeholders managing student homes, leading to the development of new governance and social support mechanisms.
