The President of Morocco’s Judiciary Council (CSPJ), M’hammed Abdenabaoui, met with the President of the Austrian Supreme Court, Georg Kodek, and Minister of Justice, Alma Zadić, in Austria on Wednesday to discuss the strengthening of judicial cooperation between the two countries, CSPJ reported in a press release.
The discussions between Abdenabaoui and Kodek focused on potential avenues for enhancing collaboration between Morocco’s Court of Cassation and Austria’s Supreme Court.
The CSPJ statement noted that both parties exchanged information about their respective judicial systems and explored potential measures to enhance judicial collaboration, in line with the 242-year-long historical ties between the two nations.
The meeting addressed the activation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both courts in 2022.
The MoU aims to enhance judicial collaboration through a detailed plan for cooperation, expert exchanges, and sharing experiences.
The Kingdom of Morocco and Austria celebrated 240 years of diplomatic relations during Austrian Chancellor Karl Nhammer’s visit to Rabat on February 28, 2023.
Azzedine Farhane, Morocco’s Ambassador to Austria, also attended the meeting.
Abdenabaoui, accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking officials from the CSPJ, is on an official visit to Austrian judicial institutions at the invitation of Kodek.
