Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Tuesday, in New York to review the progress of preparations for the World Cup 2030, co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
Following the meeting held during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Infantino stated that “he is satisfied with the progress of ongoing projects across various Moroccan cities.”
The FIFA president continued: “I am certain that Morocco will be an excellent host.”
Infantino also acknowledged King Mohammed VI’s enthusiasm for football and commended his support for the sport in Morocco. “Morocco, the land of football, is fully prepared to host the event,” Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) quoted.
Talking about Morocco as a co-host for the global event he said: “We will welcome the world into Morocco. So, we are already looking forward to it. Great projects, great stadiums, beautiful cities, and a population that will welcome everyone.” The FIFA Congress will deliver its decision on the host cities for the World Cup in December 2024.
