The President of Morocco’s lower house, Enaam Mayara, met with Equatorial Guinea’s President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo on Tuesday, at the presidential palace in Malabo to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
The discussions centered on the strong ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and ways to strengthen the cooperation between them.
President Obiang commended the advancement Morocco has made under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, highlighting the historical and friendly ties between the two countries.
He reaffirmed Equatorial Guinea’s firm support for Morocco’s territorial integrity, noting that his country’s position is based on a fundamental commitment to principle.
He also highlighted Guinea’s opening of a Consulate General in Dakhla in 2020, a move demonstrating support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
Obiang acknowledged Morocco’s contributions to the advancement of African integration and inter-African collaboration, since its re-engagement with the African Union. He also applauded King Mohammed VI’s initiatives to develop the African continent.
Representative Mayara will chair the 11th meeting of the Association of Senates, Shura, and Equivalent Councils of Africa and the Arab World (ASSECAA), scheduled for September 26 and 27 in Malabo.
