Germany views Morocco as a “very important” partner in mobility, transport, and railway cooperation, Germany’s Federal Minister for Digital and Transport Volker Wissing told MAP on Tuesday in Berlin during the 14th edition of “InnoTrans 2024 international trade fair for transport technology and rail mobility.”
The German minister praised Morocco’s development and its substantial investments in mobility, particularly in the railway sector. He stated, “The railway system is gaining importance worldwide, and I find it very positive that Morocco is supporting this global momentum.”
Wissing made these comments during his visit to the Moroccan National Railway Office (ONCF) stand at the fair, where he was welcomed by ONCF’s Director General, Mohamed Rabie Khlie, and Morocco’s Ambassador to Germany, Zohour Alaoui.
During the visit, Wissing explored Morocco’s stand, which was designed in line with the country’s authentic architectural features. The minister was treated to Moroccan tea and pastries, to further showcase Morocco’s cultural heritage.
He lauded Morocco’s active participation in InnoTrans, emphasizing that the Kingdom’s presence at this global event aligns with its strong commitment to railway development.
In addition, Wissing highlighted the close cooperation between Germany and Morocco in the transport sector, particularly in railway infrastructure.
He expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration between his ministry and its Moroccan counterpart, noting the potential for further joint efforts in advancing transportation technologies.
