The First Vice President of Morocco’s House of Representatives, Mohamed Sabbari, held talks on Thursday in Rabat with a parliamentary delegation from the Culture and Education Commission of the National Assembly of Vietnam, that is currently on an official visit to Morocco.
This meeting was an opportunity to cement the long-standing ties between Morocco and the Republic of Vietnam.
“Both nations share a common history of a national struggle for independence,” Sabbari said. He cited the historic monument of “Bab Al Maghariba” located north of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, a gate that honors Moroccans who joined the Việt Minh to fight during the Indo-China War between 1947 and 1954.
Morocco is now intent on strengthening its relations with Vietnam as a gateway to the rest of Asia. Sabbari noted the importance of exploring additional strategies and establishing effective mechanisms.
The President of the Culture and Education Commission of the National Assembly of Vietnam, HA TV Van, discussed the long-standing friendship between the two countries, reviewing the most significant historical and diplomatic milestones of relations between Hanoi and Rabat, which have existed since 1961.
During the meeting, which was attended by Vietnamese ambassador to Rabat, Le Kim Quy, TV Van called for elevating bilateral relations between the two nations, recognizing Morocco as a gateway to the African continent.
