The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) showcased the Kingdom’s rich tourism offerings, cultural heritage, gastronomy, and high-quality infrastructure, at an event it hosted in Beijing, China, on Thursday.
Morocco’s Ambassador to China, Abdelkader El Ansari, discussed the development of Morocco’s tourism sector over the past four decades, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
He highlighted the substantial growth of the Chinese tourist market in Morocco over the past 10 years, attributing this expansion to King Mohammed VI’s decision to exempt Chinese citizens from visa requirements.
“Morocco reinforced its upward trajectory with the inauguration of a direct flight route between Casablanca and Beijing in January 2020. After a temporary suspension due to the global pandemic, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will resume this route on January 20, 2025,” he said.
The ambassador affirmed Morocco’s diverse tourism portfolio, tailored to meet the expectations of Chinese travelers, including cultural, and scenic attractions, in addition to gastronomy, sports, and leisure.
Hicham Bellaziz, the Chief Representative of ONMT in China, highlighted Morocco’s appeal as a tourist destination, covering its economic potential, infrastructure, hospitality, and cultural assets.
Bellaziz also presented ONMT’s strategic plan for 2023-2026, focusing on four key priorities, namely, marketing, digitization, air services, and distribution.
The official identified marketing as key for enhancing the impact of the international tourism promotion campaign launched in 20 countries under the banner “Morocco, Kingdom of Light.”
He also announced that ONMT will soon launch an online training platform for current and potential commercial partners, offering guidance for entering the Chinese market.
The exhibit also displayed several promotional clips featuring Morocco’s major cities and tourist resorts.
