Moroccan company JL Tug has added a new multipurpose tugboat to its fleet to improve operations at Jorf Lasfar, Morocco’s second-largest deepwater port, according to Riviera.
Named Jacques 5, the 24-meter vessel is designed for ship handling, bringing more optimal efficiency and reliabilty to Jorf Lasfar’s busy commercial waters.
Powered by twin Z-drives, Jacques 5 boasts a bollard pull of 60 tons and a speed of 12 knots, making it a valuable addition to the port.
Equipped with a FiFi1 fire-fighting system and accommodation for six crew members, the tug is expected to enhance safety and operational capacity at the port.
JL Tug’s fleet includes Jacques 3, Ibrahim 1, and El Beida, which have been serving Morocco’s port sector for years.
The new tug will support the growing operations of Jorf Lasfar which plays a critical role in exporting fertilizers, chemicals, and petrochemicals.
Sanmar Shipyards built the tug as part of its Bogacay series, designed by Robert Allan Ltd exclusively for Sanmar.
