The President of Morocco’s Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccans Living Abroad Committee, Salma Benaziz, met with a delegation from Denmark’s Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday in Rabat to discuss enhancing legislative collaboration between Morocco and Denmark, Morocco’s Lower House announced in a press release.
Benaziz stated that the visit of Denmark’s parliamentary delegation reflects both countries’ commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation.
“The visit coincides with the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the throne, as well as an increase in international support for Morocco’s territorial integrity — particularly, Morocco’s Autonomy Plan presented in 2007 to resolve the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara,” she said.
At the meeting, Benaziz addressed multiple topics, including the modernization of Morocco’s judicial system along with significant ongoing initiatives.
“Morocco’s accomplishments have earned it global recognition and respect, including from Denmark,” she asserted.
Members of the Moroccan committee who also participated in the meeting, Nadia El Kansouri, Aicha El Karji, and Abdelaali Barouki, highlighted investment opportunities in Morocco, particularly in strategic sectors such as renewable energy and water.
Rasmus Prehn, Head of the Danish Parliamentary Delegation, noted that the visit is intended to reinforce collaboration and facilitate the exchange of know-how between Denmark and Morocco.
The Danish delegation reviewed some of Denmark’s critical legislative measures and shared Denmark’s experience with renewable energy.
Denmark’s parliamentary delegation includes Rasmus Prehn of the Social Democrats, Jeppe Søe of the Moderates, Kim Valentin of the Liberal Party, Charlotte Munch of the Danish Democrats, Sascha Faxe of the Alternative, John Stephen, an ex-member of the Moderates, and others. Berit Basse, Denmark’s Ambassador to Morocco, also attended the meeting.
