Morocco’s Futsal National Team, the Atlas Lions, won 6-3 against Panama in the second match of the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024 on Thursday at the Humo Arena in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Morocco’s Anas El Ayyane scored the Atlas Lions’ first goal in the second minute, and Soufiane El Mesrar scored again two minutes later.
Panamian Abdiel Ortiz scored his team’s opening goal at the 16th minute, but Morocco’s Charaoui also scored just one minute later.
The first half of the game finished in Morocco’s favor 3-1. As soon as the second half started, Morocco’s Idriss Raiss El-Fenn added another goal to Morocco at min 22.
Aquiles Campos scored the second goal for his team at min 27, while Alfonso Maquensi Morales scored the third goal for Panama at min 33 and reduced the gap.
El-Fenn then scored a second goal marking Morocco’s fifth during the game in the 36th minute, as his fellow teammate Mesrar scored his next goal in the 39th minute.
With this victory, Morocco is now set to face Portugal battling it out for first position in the group.
Hicham Dguig’s team defeated Tajikistan in the opening game, 4-2.
The Atlas Lions are making their fourth consecutive World Cup appearance, having previously competed in Thailand, Colombia, and Lithuania in 2012, 2016, and 2020, respectively.
