The Agadir police, in collaboration with the Territorial Surveillance Agency (DGST), arrested a 38-year-old suspect on Wednesday, for alleged involvement in the possession and trafficking of psychotropic substances, security sources reported.
Law enforcement authorities apprehended the suspect in the rural area of Ameskroud, located in the southwest, as he was heading from a city in Northern Morocco. A thorough search revealed 2500 Ecstasy pills in his possession.
The suspect is now in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, which is looking at who may also be connected to these criminal activities, with an eye on regional and global links.
Ecstasy, also referred to as MDMA, is a synthetic drug with stimulant and hallucinogenic properties. Due to the illicit nature of its production, the composition of ecstasy varies considerably, as does its appearance. The pills are often decorated with logos and closely resemble candy.
