Aberdeen-based Zenith Energy has secured a pivotal well support contract with Predator Oil and Gas for its helium project in Morocco, Energy Voice said.
The project involves the MOU-5 well, which is focused on evaluating both helium potential and a gas-to-power initiative near the Maghreb-Europe Gas Pipeline (GME).
The contract is described as “world class” by Predator, highlighting the importance of this helium play in the region.
Predator’s CEO, Paul Griffiths, emphasized the excitement surrounding the MOU-5 structure and the project’s potential.
He noted that the geological model for helium resources in MOU-5, developed by Scorpiongeoscience, will be released this month.
Initial drilling for the MOU-5 well began in 2022. Unlike the more complex Rharb Basin wells drilled in 2021 and 2023, MOU-5 is a conventional well requiring less specialized expertise.
Griffiths expressed confidence in the project’s progress and financial stability. He highlighted that the company’s focus on fiscal discipline, project diversity, and flexibility would support the continued development and potential success of the helium play.
In 2023, Zenith expanded its capabilities by acquiring Prodrill Energy Resource Solutions, further strengthening its position in the well management sector.
