Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, received Branly Martial Oupolo’s credentials on Wednesday in Rabat as the new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Gabon to King Mohammed VI.
The appointment of Martial Oupolo will help reinforce the strong ties between Morocco and Gabon, particularly following the appointment of Brice Oligui Nguema as the new President of Gabon.
Our sources say that the move underscores Gabon’s continued commitment to deepening its partnership with Morocco, particularly in the South-South cooperation framework.
The newly appointed ambassador will be tasked with elevating relations between the two nations by finding new areas of collaboration, ensuring the shared benefit of both nations.
Among his key responsibilities is to strengthen economic cooperation through the establishment of the first African trade representation in Morocco.
This initiative is part of the broader effort to advance economic and political cooperation between the two countries.
In August, Gabonese officials made a series of visits to Morocco. The Gabonese Foreign Minister, Régis Onanga Ndiaye, met with his counterpart Bourita, where he reaffirmed Gabon’s consistent and unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over the Sahara.
