The Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation (FRMA) held a special reception ceremony on Tuesday at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport to honor the achievements of Morocco’s U18 national athletics team.
The Moroccan athletes excelled at the 10th Arab Athletics Championship in Taif, Saudi Arabia, from September 12 to 15.
Morocco’s U18 team, consisting of 31 athletes, 15 girls and 16 boys, dominated the event by leading the medal standings with 31 medals: 10 gold, 13 silver, and 8 bronze.
At the reception, FRMA spokesperson Mohamed Nouri commended the athletes for exemplary performance across all disciplines.
He also highlighted the contribution of regional training centers, clubs, and leagues in developing top-tier athletes in partnership with the FRMA, and encouraged future athletes to continue their efforts to represent Morocco at the highest level.
Saida Albouzi, an athlete from the Mohammed VI International Academy in Ifrane, celebrated her victory in the 800-meter event and reaffirmed her dedication to competing in significant international competitions.
Abdelghafour Ahizoune of the “Club Haut Malouia d’Athlétisme,” who earned silver in the 2000-meter steeplechase, commended the FRMA for providing excellent conditions for the athletes and recognized the efforts of coaches and trainers.
The U18 Arab Athletics Championship ended with 18 delegations from across the Arab world competing in 20 sports disciplines. Saudi Arabia, the host nation, welcomed teams from Morocco, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Iraq, Tunisia, Mauritania, Libya, and Algeria.
