TLSContact will use video calls for identity verification in Rabat to tackle Schengen visa appointment fraud, starting from Wednesday.
The new system affects first-time applicants for family, tourism, research, professional, training, cultural, scientific, and sporting visas.
Applicants must complete the application on “France-Visas” and will be contacted via video call for passport verification.
Successful verification will lead to an email with appointment details. No fees are required until visiting the visa center.
Applications are valid for 45 days; re-registration is needed if no appointment is made within this period.
These measures aim to prevent fraud and ensure fair access amid frustrations over broker exploitation of appointment slots.
The Moroccan parliament is investigating the issue, with calls for booking system reforms and improved cybersecurity to protect applicants.
This news comes few days after Visa center “BLS International” has announced measures to address difficulties in booking Spanish visa appointments for Moroccan citizens, in response to harsh protests and media reports about brokers monopolizing appointments and reselling slots at inflated prices.
