Morocco’s Futsal National team, the Atlas Lions, made a strong start at the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024 with a 4-2 win against Tajikistan at the Humo Arena in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Monday.
Otman Boumezou scored twice, while Soufian Charraoui and Idriss Raiss El Fenni widened the gap, leading their team to victory and three points.
Moroccan goalkeeper Abdelkrim Anbia earned the Player of the Match award.
Morocco, ranked sixth globally, will take on Panama on Thursday followed by Portugal on Sunday.
This participation marks the Atlas Lions’ fourth consecutive World Cup appearance, following previous entries in Thailand, Colombia, and Lithuania, in 2012, 2016, and 2020, respectively.
