Officials delivered 18 school buses to rural communities in the province of Sidi Bennour in central-western Morocco as part of the National Initiative for Human Development’s (INDH) efforts to combat rural school dropout rates.
El Hassan Boukouta, Governor of Sidi Bennour Province, chaired the handover ceremony on Sunday.
“This batch consists of 18 buses, ten of them acquired through the INDH’s program for promoting human capital among younger generations and eight provided by the Provincial Council of Sidi Bennour,” Soukaina Chattabi, Head of the Social Action Division in the province, told Morocco’s News Agency (MAP).
“The project seeks to enhance access to nearby educational institutions for students living in remote rural areas,” Chattabi stated.
The INDH buses were allocated to the communes of Laatatra, M’tal, Béni Hilal, Khmis Ksiba, Koudiat Bni Dghough, Tamda, Oulad Amrane, Laghnadra, Saniat Berguig, and Oualidia.
The communes of Oulad Si Bouhya, Bouhmame, Laaounat, Laamria, Beni Tssiris, Oulad Amrane, Lahgagcha, and Lgharbia benefited from the Provincial Council’s buses, MAP reported.
A delegation from the province, including elected officials, deputies, and parliamentary advisors, attended the ceremony.
