The 2024 edition of the African Pastry Cup began on Friday in Marrakech, with eight teams competing and representing Morocco, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Mauritius, Senegal, and Tunisia.
Held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, this event is part of the TOC Africa (Official Tournament of Chefs Africa).
The competition celebrates pastry arts with both “Tasting” and “Artistic” categories, testing the creativity of Africa’s top pastry chefs.
Competitors have 10 hours to showcase their skills in visually stunning and flavorful creations, highlighting African culinary excellence.
Kamal Rahal Essoulami, president of TOC Africa, praised the event, saying it honors African pastry traditions and cultural roots.
Morocco, the winner of the 2022 edition, continues to solidify its position as a gastronomic leader and hub for African hospitality.
The top teams will advance to represent Africa at the 2025 World Cup, hosted at the prestigious SIRHA exhibition in Lyon.
Additionally, Morocco won the 2024 Bocuse d’Or Africa in Marrakech, securing another culinary victory with Mauritius and Egypt following.
These events strengthen Morocco’s international influence while promoting African cooperation through cross-border exchanges.
