The Moroccan athlete Soufiane El Bakkali, a two-time Olympic and world champion, placed second in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase on Friday in Belgium’s Brussels, as part of the Diamond League final.
El Bakkali recorded 8:08.60, just under two seconds behind Kenya’s Amos Serem, the winner with a time of 8:06.90.
Tunisia’s Mohamed Amin Jhinaoui finished third with a clocking of 8:09.68.
The athlete previously secured the Diamond League title in 2022 and retained his Olympic championship in the 3000m steeplechase at the Paris Olympics, building on his initial success at the Tokyo Games.
